(24 settembre 2018) On the occasion of the Contemporary Art Day promoted by Amaci (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on October 11th, the Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid will host the exhibition on Alessandra Calò "El Jardín Secreto". The project stems from the artist's residence at the headquarters of Palacio de Abrantes, from February 25th to March 6h, 2017 as part of the programme "L'arte che verrà" (Upcoming Art). Alessandra Calò has started working on "El Jardín Secreto" since 2014. It consists of an installation that is an imaginary journey in the life of unknown women, portrayed on old rediscovered negative plates, whose history is reinterpreted and rewritten thanks to the collaboration of distinguished contemporary authors. The exhibition "El Jardín Secreto" is a further development of the work that, during the artist's stay in Madrid, has been enriched thanks to the recovery of archival materials on site and the contact with a large panorama of contemporary artists and creators.
