Sculptures and drawings <br> pay tribute to Italian Poetry

(12 October 2018) On the occasion of the 18th Week of Italian Language in the World, the artist from Ferrara, Mirella Guidetti Giacomelli exhibits a collection of her works dedicated to some of the greatest classics of Italian poetry, from Dante to Ariosto, from Tasso to Parini in Ljubljana. A significant selection of sculptures and drawings constitute a journey that winds through the founding verses of Italian literature and, at the same time, through the different periods of the artist's long career. The exhibition, entitled "Homage to Italian poetry. Sculptures and drawings by Mirella Guidetti Giacomelli" will be exhibited at the Italian Institute of Culture in Ljubljana from October 18th to November 6th. Mirella Guidetti Giacomelli (Mirabello, Ferrara, 1935) is a sculptor who has worked with the most diverse materials, from terracotta to bronze and aluminum.  Her production is characterised by numerous works created for public spaces such as, among many others, the monument to the "Fallen in the Air, Earth, and Sea" of Porto Garibaldi (Comacchio) and those dedicated to Dante Alighieri placed respectively in the Parco Massari of Ferrara and Pula (Croatia, Community of Italians). Recently, the artist has donated the 32 great sculptures from her series "Game of Chess" to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Rovigo.
