Opera, Alessandra Facchinetti <br> costume designer for Don Carlo

(15 October 2018) Alessandra Facchinetti has designed the costumes for Don Carlo by Giuseppe Verdi, which will take place on October 27th at the Teatro dell'Opera di San Gallen (Switzerland). An opera that has been repeatedly reworked by Verdi himself, will be performed in a version that combines two historical ones: the one in Paris and the one in Modena. The performance is conducted by the Lithuanian Modestas Pitrenas, the set design is by Fabio Cherstich, directed by Nicola Berloffa. And it was Berloffa who involved the costume designer. Already an assistant to Luca Ronconi, Berloffa now works all over the world and requested Alessandra Facchinetti to talk about the luxurious and decadent atmospheres described in Don Carlo also through the costumes worn by the singers - an international cast consisting of Alexandrina Pendatchanska, Nikolay Borchev, Tareq Nazmi, Alessandra Volpe among others. Working on the psychology of Verdi's characters, Facchinetti designed the approximately 90 costumes for the leading roles, created in the atelier of the Teatro di San Gallen.
