"We have consistently positioned Italy as the leading nation in Europe in terms of financial progress and achievement of objectives". In a video address delivered at the Festival of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces in Florence, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni praised the successes of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), which was also sponsored by European resources. This evaluation focuses on healthcare and regional investments, with the government and local authorities working together to implement the policy. "We have made approximately 1,600 new facilities, including community homes and hospitals, available to Italians", Meloni added, noting over 3,100 pieces of hospital equipment and 6,000 new beds in critical and semi-intensive care. Regarding waiting lists, the Prime Minister stated that in the first nine months of 2026, "approximately two million more services" were supplied than in the same period in 2025. Meloni also stated that, thanks in part to the Cohesion Agreements with the Regions, "approximately €60 billion in investments" have been activated for works, infrastructure, and strategic projects. "When state and local governments share aims and duties, resources become opportunities", she remarked, citing institutional collaboration as a way of increasing the effectiveness of European investments and improving the lives of residents and enterprises.
