Fellini's drawings in South Africa: homage at Hilton Arts Festival

(September 7, 2017) Hilton Arts Festival, founded in 1993, has the goal of bringing the best of local and international art and theatre to the KwaZulu-Natal South African province. At the event, scheduled this year from September 15 to 17, Italy will also be present with a tribute to Federico Fellini. Italian Institute of Culture of Pretoria will remind the great Italian director who disappeared in 1993 with the exhibition "Food in Federico Fellini's drawings". The exhibition will be accompanied by two films that revolve around the figure of the great Italian director. The exhibition, organized by IIC, in collaboration with Hilton Arts Festival and Società Dante Alighieri of Durban and Pietermaritzburg, thanks to the Association Federico Fellini Foundation, Cineteca Comune di Rimini, Cultural Department of Emilia-Romagna Region. There will be 19 works by the Italian director produced at different times of his career that will be exhibited in the Lecture B room of the Hilton Centenary Center in Hilton College in Hilton (Pietermaritzburg). Many drawings come from the famous 'Libro dei Sogni', the dream journal kept by Fellini for about thirty years. The exhibition is accompanied by two films: 'Food in Fellini's Cinema', an editing by Giuseppe Ricci that combines most of the sequences of Fellini's films in which food appears, and 'The Long Journey' (1997) animated short film by Andrej Khrzhanovskij based on the drawings of Fellini, with the screenplay of the poet and writer Tonino Guerra. On Friday, September 15 at 5.30 pm there will be a speech by Dr. Giulia De Lorenzi of Società Dante Alighieri of Durban, on the female figure in Fellini's films. (PO/Red)
