Jazz: The long awaited Elisabetta Antonini concert

(7 March 2017) Elisabetta Antonini: Singer, composer, and musical arranger. Antonini is also the first Italian artist to be signed by the renowned British Label “Candid”. She has performed many times in prestigious jazz clubs and theatres in Italy and abroad (Greece, Spain, Portugal, Israel, and Brazil). She also took part in various renowned festivals such as Umbria Jazz, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Madrid, the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival and the Rio Harp Festival in Rio de Janeiro. Antonini is now preparing for two tours in Tokyo: March 9th and March 10th. Antonini (vocals, live electronics, composition, and arrangements) is accompanied by Francesco Bearzatti (sax tenor, clarinet), Luca Mannutza (Hammond organ, keyboard, Fender Rhodes), and Marcello Di Leonardo (drums). Antonini will perform from her album "The Beat Goes On" which afforded her the Best New Talent Award in 2014 by the “Musica Jazz” magazine. The album is about the Beat Generation's long journey - the ground-breaking and revolutionary literary movement that influenced Jazz music, representing the most subversive anthem of freedom. Aside from vocals and sound effects as well as musical arrangements and composing; Antonini curates an accurate and creative selection of excerpts from the most renowned novels and poems of Ginsberg, Kerouac, Corso, Burroughs (Sulla Strada a Urlo!) for which she creates an ad hoc musical soundscape for each: from bebop to funk, from West Coast rhythms to pure improvisation accompanied by original recordings and Beat vocal sound samples. The artist posts on Facebook: "The Beat Goes On arrives in Tokyo on March 9th and 10th! I am thrilled for this wonderful opportunity, and travelling with great the company of Francesco Bearzatti, Luca Mannutza e Marcello Di Leonardo! Thank you to New Age Productions for making this happen”. (PO / red)

THE ARTIST

Elisabetta Antonini is a jazz musician, band leader, musical arranger, and composer with a rich programme of concerts that brings her to collaborate with musicians such as Kenny Wheeler and Paolo Fresu. She focuses on composing and musical arrangements and then carefully reworks classical jazz pieces to create her own original pieces. Her latest album, “The Beat Goes On”, is a tribute to the Beat Generation that marries jazz with Beat poetry by utilising the voices of the poets within her compositions. She also experiments with new vocal sounds thanks to live electronics. She also teaches at the Saint Louis College of Music of Rome and in the music conservatories of Brescia, Trento, and Benevento.
