Piazza Vittorio Orchestra performs for the first time in Albania

(21 March 2017) The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra consists of musicians from 10 different countries bring their their roots and cultures into one singular language – music. The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra formed in 2002 – a project carried out through the Apollo 11 Association, a project supported by artists, intellectuals and professionals in the cultural field with the goal to bring together all the sounds from the Esquiline neighbourhood of Rome where Italians are an ethnic minority. After more than 1000 concerts performed throughout the world, the orchestra conducted by Mario Tronco, arrives for the first time in Albania where they will present their multi-ethnic repertoire at the Cultural Centre of the Orthodox Cathedral on March 23rd – an initiative promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana. The Orchestra has released five albums and performed in over 800 concerts all around the world: New York, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, L.A., London, Melbourne, Brussels, Luxembourg, Wuppertal, Oslo, Helsinki, Stockholm, Porto, and Bahrain. They have also participated in the Tribeca Film Festival, the Berlin Jazz Festival and the Feldkirch Music Festival. (Red)

A UNIQUE ENSEMBLE

The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra is the first and only orchestra created with a self-taxation system creating jobs and providing permanent residency for excellent musicians from all over the world and who have now become fellow Italian citizens. The orchestra promotes research and integration of different and lesser known types of music, thus also acting as a means for culturally and socially marginalised foreign musicians living in Rome to advance in their musical careers.
