Artemis Danza’s Traviata for the reopening of the Municipal Theatre

(17 April 2017) On the occasion of the reopening of the Municipal Theatre of Tunis, the Italian Cultural Institute presents the contemporary dance performance of La Traviata by Artemis Dance Company on April 27th (20:00-21:00) at the Theatre. Traviata – performed by Melissa Cosseta, Jessica D'angelo, Roberta De Rosa, Angela Valeria Russo, Francesca Linnea Ugolini, Emanuele Serrecchia, Filippo Stabile and choreographed by Monica Casadei – is the company’s first chapter of a project dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi – a dance interpretation of Verdi’s most famous operas - followed in January 2012 with the premiere of Rigoletto at the Jean Vilar Théâtre de Suresnes in Paris. Finally, for the bicentennial anniversary of Verdi’s and Wagner’s birth, Teatro Comunale of Bologna commissioned "The Double Night. Aida and Tristan ", accompanied live by the theatre’s orchestra and Maestro Claudio Scannavini’s interpretation of Giuseppe Verdi’s and Richard Wagner’s music. (Red)


MONICA CASADEI AND ARTEMIS DANZA

 

"Originally from Ferrara and a degree in philosophy with a thesis on Plato and dance, Monica Casadei - after a competitive career in rhythmic gymnastics - dedicated herself to the study of classical and modern dance, first in Italy, then at The Place in London, and finally in Paris where she moved in the late 1980s. In Paris, choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz who were fundamental for her formative years, as well as the contamination derived from martial arts. She attended the Academie des Arts et Arts Martiaux Contemporaines in Paris under the guidance of André Cognard Hanshi So Shihan, obtains her second degree black belt in Aikido and a teaching diploma in Aikishintaiso at the Academie Autonomous Aikido Kobayashi Hirokazu. In 1994, she founded the Artemis Danza dance company which she brought to Italy in 1997. From 1998 to 2007 she carried out a residency at the Teatro Two-Teatro Stabile of Parma and Reggio Emilia. Since May 2014, Artemis Danza is in an artistic residence at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. To date the Company has completed over thirty productions designed by Monica Casadei, accompanied by choreographies for numerous theatre and opera productions, the promotion of young artists and numerous educational initiatives, professional development for dancers and actors and access to dance for the general public " artemisdanza.com
