An evening to remember Giorgio Pressburger

(14 May 2018) The Italian Institute of Culture of Marseille pays tribute to Giorgio Pressburger - Film director, writer, and playwright born in Hungary and later became a naturalised Italian citizen who passed away on October 5th, 2017 - with an evening in conversation with Marguerite Pozzoli (friend, French translator, and director of the Actes Sud Italian collection), Mauro Caputo (who directed three films on Pressburger) and Pascal Jourdana (director of Marelle and literary critic). The event will take place on May 29th at the IIC. Following the talk will be a film screening of Caputo’s “Il profumo del tempo delle favole”. The producer of the film, Federica Crevatin will also take part in the event. Pressburger was born in Budapest to a Jewish family that fell victim to Nazism. After being exiled to Italy in 1956, Pressburger adopted the Italian language for his writing. He lived first in Rome then in Trieste. His eclectic and extraordinary cultured writing is also characterised by profound questions and a healthy pessimism often with a touch of irony. The evening in remembrance of the film director and writer was organised by the IIC in collaboration with La Marelle -Résidences d’écrivains, Création littéraire, Actions culturelles à Marseille.
