Exhibitions, underworld: Imagining <br> the afterlife in California

(23 October 2018) What did the ancient Greeks believe in after death? Centered on a monumental funerary vase, on loan from the Archaeological Museum of Naples and recently restored at the Getty Villa (California), the exhibition "Underworld: Imagining the Afterlife" illustrates the representations of the afterlife in art of Greece and Southern Italy. In addition to the stories of famous criminals and rulers of death, the works highlight the desire for a blessed existence in the afterlife and the ways in which individuals tried to obtain it.  The exhibition, organised by the Getty Museum, will be open to the public from October 31st, 2018 to March 18th, 2019 at the Getty Villa, a museum of ancient art located in California between Malibu and Los Angeles.
