Opera, France celebrates Rossini

(26 october 2018) On November 13, 1868, the great Italian composer Gioachino Rossini died in Passy (Paris). He was a true revolutionary in the world of music, still remembered today for his innovative and modern work. To celebrate this important anniversary, the Italian Embassy in Paris has organised the following events: Tuesday, November 13th, Père Lachaise Cemetery, the placing of a crown on Rossini's cenotaph and, at 19:00 at the IIC in Paris, Alessandro Baricco talks about "Five things to know about Rossini". On Wednesday, November 14th, 11.00, Sciences Po, 56 rue Jacob, there will be a Conference "La diplomatie culturelle des artistes, de Rossini à nos jours". At 19:00 at the Grand Amphithéatre de la Sorbonne, the "Petite Messe Solennelle" concert. Monday, November 19th, 20:00  the Gala Dinner will be held in the Salons of the Italian Embassy in Paris, to introduce the "Week of Italian Cuisine in the World". The events were organised in collaboration with: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Direction of the Country System; Italian Institute of Culture in Paris; Consulate General of Italy in Paris; Rossini Opera Festival; Scinces Po; Rossini Committee 150; Pesaro UNESCO Creative City; Rossini Gourmet; ENIT; Chancellerie des Universités de Paris; Ministère de l'Education Nationale; Union of Buon Ricordo Restaurants.
