Shama - The Italian soldiers of the UNIFIL West Sector stationed in Shama celebrated the traditional "medal parade", and received the commemorative medal of the United Nations Blue Helmets for the peace-keeping services performed in southern Lebanon. The commander of the UNIFIL West Sector General Salvatore Cuoci, who presided over the ceremony, stressed in his speech that the United Nations medal is a sign of gratitude and recognition for the continued commitment of the Italian men and women that work for peace in Lebanon, showing determination, professionalism and great experience. The Italian soldiers work closely together with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), in full implementation of Resolution 1701 of the UN Security Council, to protect the stability and security of the area.
