Dino Risi and Luigi Comencini: a hundred years of great cinema

(1 March 2016) They were great protagonists of Italian cinema and the undisputed masters of Italian comedy. Dino Risi and Luigi Comencini also have in common the year of their birth: 1916. And this is a centenary the Frankfurt Consulate General wants to celebrate with a retrospective scheduled for March 2-26. Eight films (four by Risi and four by Comencini) will be screened at the Deutsches Filmmuseum in an exhibition conceived and promoted by the Consulate in collaboration with Cinecittà Luce, Rai Com and "Made in Italy", the Frankfurt cultural association that for more than 20 years has organized the festival "Verso Sud". The screenings begin on March 2 with "Pane Amore e Fantasia" by Comencini. On March 10, there will be instead a special evening with the screening of Risi’s "Una vita difficile" and a meeting with the director's son Marco, who, interviewed by Franco Montini, will remember his father and, more generally, the great age of Italian comedy.
