Photography, discovering Guido Guidi: exhibition and debate

(November 10th 2016) At the inauguration of the exhibition entitled "Guido Guidi: Looking to East" open until December 4th -, the Italian Institute of Culture in Prague, invites to discover Guido Guidi: photographer and academic among the first in Italy, to photograph marginal and antispectacular scenery of small town Italy. IIc has organized a meeting with the writer and journalist Laura Leonelli. The debate theme is "The poetry of Guido Guidi: items excluded from sight and non-places." Non-places are the product of contemporary society, become incapable of integrating historical sites within it considering them as curiosities or interesting objects. Guidi has anticipated all the problems connected with the appearance of non-places, and did so because he always intended to photograph spaces and objects usually excluded from any attribution of meaning and by conscious people sight. At the conference will speak Franco Iacop (president of the regional council of Friuli Venezia Giulia), Antonio Di Bisceglie (mayor of San Vito al Tagliamento in the province of Pordenone) and Walter Liva (CRAF coordinator - Center for Research and Archiving of Photography). The date is Thursday, November 17th at 5 p.m., at the Baroque chapel of the Italian Institute of Culture (Vlašská 34, Prague 1). Doing the honors will be Giovanni Scioli (Italian Institute of Culture Director). The exhibition "Looking East" - promoted by the City of San Vito al Tagliamento in collaboration with the CRAF and the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia - presents a wide selection of works created over the years by the Master from Cesena. CARD / BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND PAINTING

Guido Guidi has always made contact prints from the machine plates to optical bench 20 × 25 used in tribute to the photography pioneers and has inherited the use of color from all history of art. So every Guidi's work seems almost a quotation from a great painter. Guido Guidi was born in 1941 in Cesena, where he lives and works. From 1956 he was in Venice, where he studied Architecture at IUAV and then Industrial Design, among others, he was Luigi Veronesi and Italo Zannier 's student. It is in the lively atmosphere of the Venetian period that he decided to devote continuously to photography. From late sixties he made important personal research, investigating the landscape and its changes and experiencing at the same time the language of photography.
