(7 december, 2016) Izano Ahmeti, Guri Madhi, Zef Shoshi, Vasil Talo, Sofia Zengo Papadhimitri, Sali Shijaku are some of the most well-known artists linked to Albanian art history. Their works will be on display at the Italian Consulate General in Vlorë in the recently inaugurated exhibition “Transformation- Works on Paper” which presents 80 works from artists in private collections ranging from the 1940s to date. The exhibition was curated by the Italian art critic Boris Brollo, president of AIAP UNESCO until 2015 and by the Director of the National Gallery of Tirana, Artan Shabani an artist and critic native to Vlorë. The two have participated in the inauguration of the exhibition which will remain open to the public for the next three months. They will be accompanied in this venture by various people such as Fate Velaj; Councillor and Prime Minister for Cultural Diplomacy and former Albanian Ambassador to Italy, Pellumb Xhufi; and other members of the art and cultural world of Vlorë. “The exhibition represents a significant opportunity to invite visitors and student groups to the Italian Consulate General in Vlorë which, shortly after one semester since its inauguration, has already become, along with Petro Marko Theatre, a cultural point of reference for the city, hosting concerts, conferences and very successful vernissages” reads a note from the Consulate. THE EXHIBITION
According to anote from the Consulate, “Among the works on display, a large portion of which is inpired by reality, a few important names stand out from Albanian history of art such as Izano Ahmeti,Guri Madhi, Zef Shoshi, Vasil Talo, Sofia Zengo Papadhimitri e Sali Shijaku, whose works present, as underlined by Boris Brollo, many affinities with international painting and in particular, Italian”.
