Taranto - The brewery Heineken Massafra (TA) is the first in the world in production of photovoltaic energy and the number of installed solar panels, according to the "Top 50 Solar Beer Breweries" world ranking by SolarPlaza. With a total of 13,000 panels and covers an area of over 51,000 square meters, the plant installed by Solar Access on the Group brewery in Puglia is able to generate 4.42 GWh of electricity per year, with a reduction of emissions by over 1,700 tons of CO₂. Thanks to the new system, about 20% of the brewery's energy needs and tourist resources will be supported by the energy production of its panels. It extends also to two new references of the family Birra Moretti certification "made with the sun". After Birra Moretti Baffo d'Oro, the first beer produced entirely in Italy with solar power, even Birra Moretti La Rossa and Birra Moretti Doppio Malto have been certified by Certiquality which certifies the production of equivalent renewable energy from solar panels .
