From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
(19 January 2017) “A happy young girl in Trieste, a young woman in Tyachiv in her grandparent’s house in the heart of Europe, a journey in the Auschwitz concentration camp, a woman out conquering the world in Canada, a wife, and mother”. The Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance day is organising the book presentation of “Maddalena ha gli occhi viola” by Rosanna Turcinovich Giuricin (Edizioni Comunicarte, 2016). The presentation will take place on 27 January at 11:00 at the ICI. Rosanna Turcinovich Giuricin offers an interpretation on Miriam’s narration, rendering it even more extraordinary- moving the pieces of her Jewish friend’s fortunate story, constructing an intertwinement of events that capture the reader, pushing their curiosity to keep turning the pages of the interview in a single sitting. Although the protagonist is Miriam, the author is her intermediary who through her ability is able to transmit emotions, fear, and anguish, but also a positive perspective on places, landscapes, and interiors which have seen life go by. The story is told backwards, starting in Toronto where Miriam established herself after going through a lot of pain and suffering, marked by an inescapable destiny, but still willing to keep on going.
