The Italian Institute of Culture in Madrid collaborates with the 35th Festival de Otoño en Primavera in the presentation of Toni Servillo's play "Elvira" on April 19th, 20th, and 21st at the Teatro Pavón Kamikaze in Madrid. The show in Italian will be performed in Italian with Spanish surtitles. The original by Brigitte Jaques - Elvire Jouvet 40 - is the transcription of the seven lessons on Molière's "Dom Juan" held by the great French actor Louis Jouvet at the Paris Conservatoire under Nazi occupation. Toni Servillo reinterprets the original text in the new tradition realised by Giuseppe Montesano accompanied by three young performers: Petra Valentini (in the role of Elvira), Davide Cirri (Lèon / Sganarello), and Francesco Marino (Octave / Dom Juan). "Elvira takes the audience inside a closed theatre, as if spying between the stalls and the proscenium, with a teacher and a student engaged in a particular moment of a real phenomenology of character creation. After years of Louis Jouvet's reflections on theatre and on being an actor kept me company in dealing with different repertoires, from Molière to Marivaux, and Eduardo to Goldoni, it seemed necessary that the moment of a direct meeting arrived" explains Toni Servillo.
