The Venus of the Rags (1967), one of the artist's most famous works, consists of the cement reproduction of a classical Thorvaldsen sculpture in front of a pile of rags. It welcomes the visitor into the Embassy, inviting them to reflect on the concept of beauty, the singularity and reproducibility of the work of art, but also on consumerism and on the need to find new paths. A more recent work by Pistoletto, also exhibited in the Embassy, is Love difference - Mar Mediterraneo (2005), it is a large mirrored table the shape of the Mediterranean sea. As part of the guided tours, visitors will have have access to the installation Il terzo paradiso (The Third Paradise) in the courtyard of the Embassy and the exhibition Riverberi e rispecchiamenti (Riverbs and Mirroring) on the third floor of the Italian Institute of Culture in Berlin. Tours of the exhibition in the Italian Embassy and Cultural Institute of Berlin will take place on Mondays at 15:00.
