Arts,

In the centenary of the end of the First World War, the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade presents the exhibition "For the Serbian army - A forgotten story", which includes photographs taken from the book by the same name edited the historian and journalist Mila Mihajlovic. Through pictures, it tells the story of one of the most important and vast humanitarian operations of all time. The exhibition will be inaugurated on January 15 at the Civic Museum of Sombor and will be open until February 10. In the midst of the winter of 1915-1916, the Serbian army, bound by the armies of the central empires, was forced to retreat through the mountains, followed by civilians. Arrived on the Adriatic coast, the army was rescued thanks to an exceptional humanitarian and military operation by the Italian Navy, with the participation of French and British units, which ensured the transfer of the entire Serbian army on the other side of the sea.
