Rome and the Holy Land, <br> 2000 years of relationships 

(1 marzo 2019) A conference organised by the Dante Alighieri Society of Jerusalem, in collaboration with the IIC of Tel Aviv, on various aspects of the Roman and then Italian presence in the Holy Land will be held on 1 March at the Ratisbonne Institute in Jerusalem. The conference will highlight different aspects of the Roman presence and subsequently the Italian one in the Holy Land from the times of the Roman Empire, to the Middle Ages, to the first half of the twentieth century. Among the speakers: "The Roman Empire - salient characteristics" (Prof. Alexander Yakobson, Hebrew University of Jerusalem); "The synagogues in the Holy Land in the Roman period" (Uzi Leibner, Hebrew University of Jerusalem); "Romans at the table and in the palace of Herod, King of Judea" (Avner Ecker, University of Bar Ilan); "Jewish pilgrims from Rome to Jerusalem in the eighteenth century" (Prof. Asher Salah, Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts), "History of a nailed sandal" - Bar Kochba's revolt in the sources and on the field" (Dr. Doron Sar - Avi, Herzog Institute and Dr. Rachel Bar Nathan, Israel Antiquites Authority).
