ICE organizes Food and Hospitality exchange in Kenya

Nairobi - The Italian Trade Agency (ICE) is organizing the Food and Hospitality Exchange initiative in Nairobi on July 2nd and 3rd. The event includes the exhibition and presentation of Italian company products, with guided tastings, workshops, and B2B meetings with sector operators (importers, buyers, distributors) from Kenya and other Sub-Saharan African countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, among others). Despite being an emerging country, interest in gastronomy in this part of the world is steadily increasing, as confirmed by recent feedback following activities within the Italian Cuisine Week in the World and other promotional events in the sector. Currently, Italy is the third-largest wine supplier to Kenya after South Africa and France, with Italian wine exports increasing by 15% in the first 9 months of 2023, reaching a 10% market share. Regarding other product categories, Italy ranks third for tomato preserves, processed meats, and olive oil, fourth for pasta, and sixth for cheese. In addition to the food and wine sectors, given the event's focus on catering and distribution, it will also be an opportunity to promote the hospitality and Ho.Re.Ca sector, providing visitors with a comprehensive Italian offer. Finally, considering the central role played by tourism in Kenya's local economy, innovative offers and promotions from the involved sectors are welcomed. (9colonne)
