Dancing up-close: Simone Ghera’s photography unveiled

(Aug. 21) The beauty of bodies in motion, stretching, training, backstage, onstage, from various parts of the world are told in the exhibition organized by the Franzosischer Dom in Berlin and the Staatlische Ballettschule Berlin named “Dancer inside Berlin”. The author is the Italian photographer Simone Ghera. His shots always allow multiple points of view, which reflect his interpretation of classical ballet as a hard discipline of commitment. The tiniest details are highlighted, both when the dancers are in tension or simply relaxing after a session. The Franzosischer Dom is situated in Gendarmenmarkt, also known as the “Square of two domes” near the Mitte, one of the most interesting and fascinating squares in Berlin.

ALL IN ONE PLACE

Simone Ghera is a Roman architect and photographer, after working with an analogical camera for most of his career, recently decided to adopt digital technology while maintaining his black and white style. His passion for photography dates back to his youth and he cultivated it during his travels across the world. Thanks to the photography courses in the Roman School of Photography, he mastered the use of light, which Ghera considers the most interesting and creative tool available to an artist. His project dedicated to dancers has its own website (simonegheraphotography.com) and was first established in London in 2008, before expanding to other countries, such as Spain, United States, Russia and Germany, and finally Italy in 2011.
