(Sept -4) - Susanna Sciacovelli, who has been General Director for Airberlin in Italy since July 2010, is now taking on the markets in Greece, Israel and Turkey as Area Manager. Airberlin has brought together these markets under the newly created country cluster "Southern Europe" and has placed responsibility for sales and marketing in the region with Sciacovelli. She is based in Rome and reports to Mats Jacobsson, Vice President International Sales at Airberlin. "Airberlin now flies to 170 destinations," said Mats Jacobsson. "We sell our flight tickets nearly everywhere in the world, and we are therefore constantly optimizing our International Sales department. With the new country cluster 'Southern Europe' we will be able to manage our sales and marketing activities in these markets much better. Susanna Sciacovelli has accumulated considerable experience with Airberlin and elsewhere in the tourism sector and will now bring her expertise to bear as Area Manager in Southern Europe." Before her appointment as Airberlin's General Director for Italy, Sciacovelli was - besides other managerial positions - Managing Director of the Tourism Board of the Balearic Islands and Marketing and Sales Director of Air Europa in Majorca. Born in Italy, Sciacovelli completed her M.A. studies in Business management and Psychology in Leiden and New York. Besides her mother tongue language she speaks German, Dutch, English, French, Spanish and Catalan. (red)
