Bangkok – The 2024 International Promotion Tour of the Fondazione Arena di Verona Concludes in Asia
The tour wrapped up in Asia with stops in Bangkok and Mumbai, marking the conclusion of the Fondazione Arena di Verona's 2024 international promotion tour. Over the past year, the tour visited around twenty cities and engaged with more than three thousand stakeholders worldwide, including authorities, representatives of Italian institutions abroad, tour operators, businesspeople, and industry journalists. The tour covered major cities such as Paris, Madrid, Sofia, and Munich, as well as Los Angeles, Toronto, and Washington, before reaching the Far East with stops in Seoul, Mumbai, and Bangkok.
The aim of the tour was to promote opera as a hallmark of Italian excellence, to open new tourism channels, and to establish international relationships. “We came to plant a seed, and we are returning home with numerous sign-ups for next summer,” said Cecilia Gasdia, superintendent of the Fondazione Arena di Verona. “It has been an important year for the Arena, and these two events in Asia are the perfect conclusion to an international tour that has taken us around the world. Both India and Thailand have a deep love for music, and we hope opera can find the recognition it deserves. We encountered enthusiastic audiences, which gives us great hope. We will continue to do our best for the Arena and Verona.”
“We are returning with contacts, relationships, and new ideas,” said Stefano Trespidi, deputy artistic director of the Fondazione Arena. “We need to think outside the box; these stops open up new paths, strategies, and markets for us.”
Performing some of the most beautiful arias by Verdi and Puccini were sopranos Eleonora Bellocci and Caterina Marchesini, tenor Galeano Salas, and baritone Giulio Mastrototaro, with Cecilia Gasdia, the superintendent of the Fondazione Arena, accompanying them on the piano. (9colonne)
