Faculty from the Polytechnic University of the Marche among the “Highly Cited Researchers 2024”

Philadelphia - Maurizio Battino, Francesca Giampieri, and Francesco Regoli, professors at the Polytechnic University of the Marche (UNIVPM), have been confirmed in the global Highly Cited Researchers 2024 ranking by Clarivate Analytics. This report highlights the most cited researchers worldwide over the past decade.

The ranking is based on data collected by analysts at the Institute for Scientific Information, recognizing 6,886 highly cited researchers in 2024 from over 1,300 institutions across 59 countries and regions. Only 106 are based in Italy, representing one researcher out of 1,000 globally. Despite their small number, these researchers have significantly advanced the frontiers of knowledge, enabling society to benefit from innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable, and safer.

The evaluation and selection process relies on Web of Science citation data, along with analyses by bibliometric and data science experts at Clarivate’s ISI. This year, new criteria and advanced evaluation methods were introduced to address threats to research integrity.

Maurizio Battino, a full professor of Food Science in the Faculty of Medicine and featured on the prestigious list for 10 consecutive years, is the most cited researcher at UNIVPM. He has authored nearly 500 peer-reviewed publications and serves as an Editor for several leading international journals.

Francesco Regoli, a full professor of Applied Biology and Director of the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, represents Italy in the European Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters.” He has authored over 270 peer-reviewed publications in international journals.

Francesca Giampieri, a researcher at the Department of Clinical Specialistic and Dental Sciences and included in the list for six years, has authored 245 peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
