Bogotà - Italian cuisine and chefs take center stage in Colombia during the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. Among the events organized by the Italian Embassy in Bogotá, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the ITA/ICE Agency, a masterclass was held at the University of Sinú in Cartagena. Led by Carmelo Fabbricatore, chef from the Italian Federation of Chefs, the session was designed for students of the gastronomy faculty. The chef also prepared a gala dinner in the university's halls, attended by figures from the political, social, and cultural sectors, as well as members of the local Italian community in this UNESCO World Heritage city.
In Bogotá, another event was held at the residence of the Italian Ambassador, Giancarlo Maria Curcio, in collaboration with Pastificio Luigi Garofalo, to promote the Mediterranean diet. The occasion featured renowned Italian chef Michele Tomadin, global ambassador for Garofalo pasta, who traveled to Bogotá for the event. The initiative welcomed 400 guests, including national authorities and members of the diplomatic corps.
During the evening at the ambassador’s residence, a photography exhibition was also unveiled, showcasing the historic first visit of the Italian Navy Training Ship Amerigo Vespucci to Colombia in September 2023. The exhibition was curated by the Comites of Bogotá. (9colonne)
