The BAUHAUS4EU university alliance project has officially kicked off at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. The project, funded by the European Union with over 14 million euros for the next four years, aims to foster international cooperation among higher education institutions. During the kick-off meeting, the University of Bergamo was represented by Rector Sergio Cavalieri and Vice-Rector for Internationalization Flaminia Nicora. The meeting laid the foundation for organizing and planning the alliance's activities and initiatives, starting with the appointment of an Advisory Board made up of academics and experts in higher education and European policies.
The project is coordinated by the University of Weimar in Germany and includes ten universities from nine different European countries: in addition to Italy, France, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, and Poland. The project is inspired by the cultural values of the New European Bauhaus, which in turn draws from the original principles of the Bauhaus cultural movement. The alliance is driven by values such as the appreciation of beauty and cultural heritage, innovation, inclusion, and environmental and social sustainability. The goal is to create a transnational campus where students, faculty, and technical and administrative staff can find innovative courses, research opportunities, and best practices to exchange, ultimately transforming each university into a place of excellent education that meets the needs of the contemporary world.
