The University of Basilicata gains points in the "UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024," a ranking that evaluates universities based on their commitment to sustainability, climate change, energy savings, water and waste management, transportation impact, and environmental training, research, and outreach activities. Over four years, Unibas has “climbed” the ranking, moving from position 607 to 240 worldwide, and ranking fifteenth in Italy. This year, "GreenMetric" analyzed 1,477 universities worldwide using 51 different indicators. In particular, for the "Setting and Infrastructure" category, which considers the university’s investment in "green" facilities and policies, the University of Basilicata ranks fourth in Italy. Significant infrastructure investments have been made for renewable energy production, energy savings, and the creation of "green" campuses at the Matera and Potenza locations. For example, at the Macchia Romana Campus, more than 30% of the electricity is supplied by photovoltaic systems.
