A 10-year journey: Run for IOV runners prepare for Chicago

The Run for IOV team, made up of women who were once patients at IOV-IRCCS, is now preparing for the 2025 Chicago Marathon, set to take place on October 12. The new team was officially introduced at the Veneto Oncology Institute (IOV) and includes Valeria Baliva, Alice Candido, Maria Grazia Carraro, Susanna Cautiero, Morena Contin, Alessia Ispiola, Cristina Pregel, and psycho-oncologist Dr. Marina Lorusso, who will join the veteran runners in their journey toward the 2025 edition.

Their training will continue over the coming months, with a major milestone ahead: for the first time, they will run a 21 km race at the Padova Marathon on April 27, 2025, as a key step toward their Chicago goal.

Founded by Sandra Callegarin, the "Run for IOV" project is organized by Run Your Life Again (RYLA) Onlus, with the sponsorship and support of the Veneto Oncology Institute, the Sports Medicine and Exercise Unit of the Padua Hospital, and the Department of Medicine at the University of Padua. Over the years, it has engaged dozens of women of all ages, forming a dedicated team of runners—hence the name Run for IOV.

The team is coached and guided by sports specialists (Chiara Arrigoni from Assindustria), as well as medical, nutritional, and psychological experts from Sports and Exercise Medicine (represented at the event by Prof. Andrea Ermolao) and the Veneto Oncology Institute (IOV).
