The advisor of the Cgie, the General Council of Italians Abroad, met with the Mayor of Geneva, Christina Kitsos, in the presence of the Consul General of Italy in Geneva, Nicoletta Piccirillo. The goal of the meeting was to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation between the local institutions in Geneva and the Italian representations in Switzerland, with particular reference to Italians living and working in the Canton of Geneva. Vaccaro had the opportunity to discuss crucial issues for the Italian community in Geneva, focusing particularly on the priorities for collaboration between the Comites and local political-administrative authorities. He emphasized that closer cooperation between these entities is essential to maintain and strengthen the ties between the Italian community and the host country. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of developing concrete synergies to address the daily needs of the community while ensuring that the concerns of Italians are adequately represented and protected. The discussion also centered on issues related to the integration of Italians in Switzerland, a model for emigrants from other countries, which has allowed the Italian community to consolidate and thrive in the multicultural Swiss context. Although positive, Vaccaro believes that the integration process must be constantly monitored and improved, especially for the new generations of Italians arriving in Switzerland.
