Italian exports on the rise: Simest supports 170 international operations

Simest, the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group company dedicated to the internationalization of Italian businesses, carried out approximately 170 export support operations in 2024 for 55 Italian companies, 60% of which were new Simest partners. The total transaction value reached €525 million (+5% vs. 2023), with Italian-made capital goods distributed across 44 countries worldwide.

Latin America remained the leading destination for Italian supplies, accounting for 30% of the approved operations, with Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, and Ecuador ranking highest in terms of volume. The European Union followed, representing approximately 14% of operations. The United States continued to be a key market for Italian goods, accounting for around 12% of operations. Africa also played a significant role, with 8% of transactions targeting the continent. Other major destination countries included Turkey (7%) and the United Arab Emirates (6%).

The top industry sectors in 2024 included transportation, textile machinery, food processing equipment, chemical industry plants, machinery for woodworking, plastics, ceramics, and metals, as well as packaging machinery, automotive industry equipment, formwork systems, and construction machinery.

Simest's support was provided through supplier credit operations via the "Export Contribution" program, an interest rate subsidy managed in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This non-repayable and entirely free grant partially or fully reduces the cost of discounting payment instruments issued by foreign buyers for sales contracts.
