Clay shooting / Italian team heads to Cyprus for third ISSF World Cup event

Nicosia – After the World Cup leg in Peru, the international clay shooting community gathers in Nicosia, Cyprus, for the third stage of the ISSF World Cup. The competition will take place at the Olympic Shooting Range “Lakis Psimolophitis,” with a total of 351 athletes from 54 countries. The Skeet specialists will be the first to compete. The Italian team, led by national head coach Luigi Lodde, will begin free training sessions on May 2, with competitions scheduled between May 5 and 7.
Representing Italy in this event are Elia Sdruccioli (Army) from Ostra (AN), Erik Pittini (Fiamme Oro) from Sutrio (UD), and Valerio Palmucci (Fiamme Oro) from Fiano Romano (RM) in the men’s category, and Chiara Di Marziantonio (Army) from Cerenova (RM), Martina Maruzzo (Army) from Nanto (VI), and Sara Bongini (Fiamme Oro) from Impruneta (FI) in the women’s category. Competing only for ISSF ranking points are Marco Sablone (Fiamme Oro) and Damina Paolacci (Fiamme Oro), both from Rome.
The trap team, led by head coach Marco Conti, will arrive in Nicosia on May 6. Traveling with him are Mauro De Filippis (Fiamme Oro) from Taranto, Fabio Sollami from Caltanissetta, and Diego Valeri (Navy) from Artena (RM) for the men’s team, and Marialucia Palmitessa (Fiamme Oro) from Monopoli (BA), Alessia Iezzi (Carabinieri) from Manoppello (PE), and Erica Sessa (Fiamme Oro) from Cava de’ Tirreni (SA) for the women’s team. Competing solely for ISSF ranking points are Angelo Scalzone (Army) from Trecate (NO) and Sofia Littamè (Air Force) from Baone (PD). Their official training is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, with the competitions taking place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 9–11.
