Alice Springs – Giuseppe De Rosa is back at it. As the reigning champion, he will attempt to win the “Roadsign Continental Challenge” for a fourth time—a prestigious series of ultramarathons organized by Canal Aventure that takes place across five continents.
De Rosa is the only athlete in the world to have completed and won this grueling challenge three times: in 2022, 2023, and 2024. “I’m going for my fourth Continental title. At 48 years old, I’m giving it another shot—it’s a challenge that truly fascinates me,” he said.
The first leg of this new attempt is The Track Australia, which will take place from May 14 to 23 in the Australian Outback, between the town of Alice Springs and Uluru. The race includes nine stages over ten days, covering a total of 520 kilometers.
De Rosa will be joined by 27 other athletes—7 women and 20 men. Originally from Sala Consilina in the province of Salerno, the 48-year-old ultrarunner left for Australia two days ago, determined yet calm: “Years ago, I dreamed of just finishing the Continental. I never imagined I’d win it—then I won it three times in a row. I don’t want to close the door just yet; I want to try to win it one last time.”
The Track Australia is held every two years. De Rosa has completed it twice—and now he aims to do what no one has ever achieved.
