Tractors: Goldoni’s activities in former Yugoslavia

Feb. 19 – Goldoni, manufacturer of agricultural machinery and one of the historical Emilia business with a turnover of €63 million and 325 employees, began activities in former Yugoslavia, without relocating production, but focusing instead on Made in Italy quality. "The 'heart' of the matter - explain the company's managers – is tractor transmission, which will remain under Goldoni supervision even in those countries able to clone technology, especially body and chassis. We have already tested successfully in Iran and Georgia and we are now looking into other markets such as China, Brazil and Turkey, where tractor transmission is produced entirely by Goldoni." On February 22, the company will open a new store in Croatia, Buje - Plovanija. It will be called Goldoni Machina Tractoria and it is estimated that it will register 100 machines per year in Croatia, with a turnover of € 2 million; a similar forecast was put forth for nearby Slovenia, reaching in 2013 a total turnover of € 4 million. The Vice-President of the Province of Reggio Emilia, Pierluigi Saccardi, commented: "It seems appropriate to point out how different companies in our area, such as Goldoni, show a strong desire for innovation in production and stubborn belief that they can overcome this prolonged crisis that is putting a strain on our manufacturing sector." The Slavic project of the Modena company states that, over the next three years, about 500 tractors a year will be sold in the countries of former Yugoslavia, with a total turnover of € 9 million.

GOLDONI IN THE BALKANS

In former Yugoslavia, the Goldoni brand has been known for many years, considering its trade relations in Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo, where agriculture is still an important sector of the economy. Serbia is also the gateway to the real, huge market of Eastern Europe and Russia, where Goldoni, thanks to the elimination of customs duties between the two countries, is expected to sell between 250 and 300 tractors each year, for a value of € 5 million.
