Mar. 14 - A few weeks after the opening of metro line M3, metro line M2 Ankara is ready to go, after being inaugurated by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It is composed of sixteen kilometers and 12 stations and is part of the modernization project of the metro network in Ankara, awarded to the consortium Ansaldo STS - Alarko Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS. Within the contract, the scope of work of Ansaldo STS covers the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the new signaling systems and subsystems. The new lines M2, M3 and M4 and the respective park trains will all be equipped with Communications Based Train Control, Ixl Interlocking, Automatic Train Control, and Data Communication Systems. Ansaldo STS also contributed to the renewal of the existing signaling systems on the M1 line, the deposit, and the existing trains.

The metro project in Ankara was commissioned to Ansaldo STS shortly after the positive results of its technology-based CBTC solutions for metropolitan networks in China (Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Xi'an, and Hangzhou). As part of urban transport, Ansaldo STS’ current projects include the new Metro Cityringen in Copenhagen (Denmark), the Red Line subway in Stockholm (Sweden), line 3 of the metro in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and the circular line of Taipei (Taiwan).
