(3 March 2016) The "sculptor of sounds" Fausto Romitelli is a Gorizia-native composer who passed away prematurely in 2004. To his talent is dedicated the first event of the cycle "Meetings with Music" promoted by the Italian Cultral Institute of Lisbon, scheduled for this evening - March 3 - at 7pm, at the premises of the Institute. The visceral and visionary musician, student of Umberto Rotondi and Franco Donatoni, is considered one of the most innovative talents of contemporary classical music. Professor Alessandro Arbo will talk at the conference entitled ''Resonances and anamorphosis. Forays into the world of Fausto Romitelli," accompanied by guitarist Lucia D'Errico. Arbo is a professor in the Department of Musicology at the University of Strasbourg, he is a member and co-founder of the "Groupe de Recherches sur l'acte expérimentales musical" (Gream), conducting research mainly in the fields of aesthetics and philosophy of music. A friend, as well as a contemporary and fellow citizen of Fausto Romitelli, Arbo dedicated several essays and collective volumes to the artist, including “Il corpo elettrico: viaggio nel suono di Fausto Romitelli”, Monfalcone 2003; “Oltre le periferie dell’impero. Omaggio a Fausto Romitelli”, Torino 2014; “Anamorphoses. Etudes sur l’œuvre de Fausto Romitelli, Paris 2015. Lucia D'Errico (1982) is a musician, researcher and graphic artist. Her musical activity is mainly devoted to experimental and contemporary music repertoire. She works as artist-researcher at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, where she is a member of the MusicExperiment21 team. Her work as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist takes her to perform solo and in collaboration with ensembles, theater and improvisation groups. Lucia D’Errico completed her classical guitar studies at the Conservatory B. Marcello in Venice and holds a master's degree in English Studies at the University Ca 'Foscari. (Red)

Fausto Romitelli (Gorizia, 1 February 1963 - Milan, June 27, 2004) was an Italian composer. A student of Umberto Rotondi, Romitelli graduated from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, later studying at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and at the Civica Scuola di Musica with Franco Donatoni. From 1993 to 1995, he worked at IRCAM in Paris as compositeur en recherche, studying with Gérard Grisey. Romitelli won numerous awards, including the Premio Franco Abbiati by the Italian Music Critics for the opera "An Index of Metals". In 2014, ten years after his death, the 23rd Milano Music Festival was dedicated to his talent.
