(31 January 2019) The University College Cork will host the exhibition "Irish in Italy" starting on February 7th showcasing the Italian reception of major Irish historical and literary events in the first half of the twentieth century. The exhibition - whose calendar will be confirmed shortly - follows two main itineraries: one is the long and bloody history of Irish independence and the versions that were presented in Italy in the early decades of the twentieth century; the other, the history and the diffusion and reception of the surprising Irish literary revival first in liberal Italy and then in fascist Italy. The collection on display includes numerous letters by Pavese, Joyce, Montale, Yeats, and Linati, as well as the first Italian editions of several masterpieces of Irish literature. For the occasion, UCC will also host lectures by Lauren Arrington, Alessandro Gentili, and John McCourt.
