Enel GP starts operating new photovoltaic plants in Greece

(Jun. 19) - Enel Green Power consolidates its position in the Greek photovoltaic market through the launching of four new plants all located in the Peloponnese region. Thanks to the entry into service of these new power plants Enel Green Power’s total installed capacity in Greece reaches 245.4 MW. The first plant is the “Agrilia Baka” PV plant which is located in the area of Messinia. It has an installed capacity of 4.9 MW and is able to generate 7 million kWh/year. The 4.9 MW “Kavasila” plant is located in the western part of the Achaea region. The fully operational plant is expected to generate approximately 6.5 million kWh annually. The third PV plant, “Limnochori”, which has just entered into operation, has an installed capacity of 4.8 MW and will be able to produce approximately 6 million kWh/year. The fourth new EGPH PV plant is located in Corinth and has an installed capacity of 2.8 MW. The fully operational plant is expected to generate about 3.5 million kWh/year. The start of operations at these new plants will avoid emissions into the atmosphere of over 23 thousand tons of CO2 per year. ESSE - the equal share joint venture between EGP and Sharp for the development of photovoltaic projects in the Mediterranean – has commenced operations at two plants for a total installed capacity of around 2 MW. They are the Marco and Marini facilities located in the Karditsa region, which will annually produce more than 2 million kWh, avoiding emissions into the atmosphere of over 650 tons of CO2 per year. Enel Green Power is already present in the Greek renewables industry. EGP’s wind farms, with a total installed capacity of 199 MW, are mainly located in Thrace, but also in Macedonia and Peloponnese, as well as on the islands of Evia, Crete and the Dodecanese. In addition, EGP operates small hydro plants in central Greece, western Greece and Thessaly, with a total installed capacity of 19 MW. With the new photovoltaic plants, the Italian renewable Group’s installed capacity in the Greek photovoltaic sector reaches 27.4 MW, to which the 2 MW put in operation by ESSE are added. (red)
