Brussels – Circle, an innovative SME heading the Circle Group, specializing in process analysis, the development of solutions for innovation and digitalization in the port and intermodal logistics sectors, and international consulting on Green Deal and energy transition topics, has announced the participation of its subsidiary, Magellan Circle, in the AI4COPSEC project. This pioneering initiative aims to revolutionize maritime surveillance and environmental crisis response through artificial intelligence and satellite data, coordinated by the Simula Research Laboratory.

Simula is a research organization conducting high-quality studies in the field of information and communication technologies. Magellan Circle will receive a grant of €272,500 to enhance its expertise in scientific communication and dissemination activities at the European level.

AI4COPSEC, funded by the Horizon Europe program, integrates state-of-the-art AI solutions with data from the Copernicus satellite program to address urgent challenges in environmental and security fields. The project will employ advanced artificial intelligence to improve the detection of illegal maritime activities, optimize responses to fuel spills, and enhance search and rescue operations.

Magellan Circle’s role in the project will be crucial in ensuring that the innovative results and solutions are communicated clearly and effectively, targeting policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the wider public.
