Jan. 16 – A new international recognition for made in Italy products: Snaidero’s kitchen "Way" - Italian manufacturer of furniture based in Majano, near Udine - was awarded the Good Design Award 2012, a prestigious decoration from the Atheneaum Chicago Museum of Architecture. Founded in 1950 and organized by the University of Chicago, the Good Design Award recognizes designers and producers who, with originality and creativity, are able to go beyond the traditional standards of product and design. Apple, BMW, Coca Cola, Nestle and Nokia Corporation are just a few of the big names that have won this award and among them there is also Snaidero. Among the hundreds of requests to participate and the more than 500 projects from all over the world, the jury of architects and other design experts declared "Way" to be the best. For Snaidero, award-winning leader in the production kitchens made in Italy, this is the ninth model to have received this award since 1996, alongside Ola, Idea, Venus and Acropolis by Pininfarina, Time, Skyline Lucci and Orlandini, Kube by Giovanni Offredi and Ola20.
THE “WAY” MODEL
The "Way" model was a challenging design for Snaidero, because it needed to develop a proposal for an industrial, modern and integrated approach, looking to the future in terms of ergonomics and flexibility, design, quality, customization and competitiveness. "Way" represents a clear and rigorous architectural project: the volumes are interpenetrated, and the modularity is enhanced by an apparent simplicity that underlies attention to detail. Another dominant aspect is its "green" nature: “Way” is designed according to quality criteria that protect the environment while improving the quality of life at home. "Way" uses ecological wood certified by the Forest Stewerdship Council (FSC), which guarantees a balance between tree cutting and planting. But above all, “Way” has a low emission panel at its core.
