Geneva – On September 20, the town of Chêne-Bourg hosted an evening of music and solidarity, as the National Union of Decorated Italians in Switzerland (UNDIS) organized a benefit concert in support of the Comitato Assistenza Educativa (CAE). Held at the Salle Communale Point Favre, the concert highlighted both artistic excellence and social engagement.
The centerpiece of the evening was a recital by Italian-Genevan pianist Philippe Boaron, who presented a world premiere program exploring the contrasting musical worlds of Ernest Bloch and Franz Liszt.
UNDIS President Carmelo Vaccaro opened the evening by recalling the association’s mission of solidarity, civic engagement, and cultural promotion among Italians in Switzerland. Virginia Cremonte, President of the CAE, emphasized the importance of the committee’s work: “Today more than ninety Italian language courses are active in Geneva’s primary and secondary schools, forty of which are directly managed by our Committee. This commitment requires constant passion, professionalism and resources.”
She noted that while the courses receive partial support from the Italian Ministry, a significant share is sustained through parental contributions and fundraising initiatives such as this concert. “It is thanks to this synergy between families, associations and institutions,” she added, “that we can guarantee quality education and continuity for our mission.”
