Hanoi – On the occasion of the 26th Italian Contemporary Art Day, an annual event showcasing the vitality of Italian contemporary creativity, the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi is hosting a screening of Hidden Away (Volevo nascondermi) by Italian director Giorgio Diritti. The screening will take place on Thursday, October 9, at 6 p.m. at Casa Italia.

The film retraces the life of Antonio Ligabue – portrayed by Elio Germano – a naïve and visionary painter who depicted wild animals while living in solitude along the banks of the Po River. His existence, marked by hardship and isolation, is transformed into a tale of redemption through art, which allowed him to communicate and be embraced by the world.

Released in 2020, the film won the Nastro dell’Anno and the Golden Globe for Best Film. Germano received the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and the David di Donatello Award for Best Actor for his performance.

The screening will be in Italian with English subtitles and will be followed by a wine and food tasting as part of the “Sentiero diVino” initiative, organized in collaboration with Viet-It Wines and Caffè Italia. To attend, please confirm your participation by writing to culturale.hanoi@esteri.it no later than Monday, October 6. (9colonne)
