Hamburg – With depth and irony, Michela Murgia explored the complexities of Italian society, tackling issues such as feminism, patriarchy, the influence of Catholicism on women’s roles, and the gender bias rooted in language.
To honor her legacy, the association ReteDonne e.V., in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Hamburg, will host an evening dedicated to Murgia on Friday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The event will feature a collage of readings, articles, and audio-video excerpts revisiting the key themes that shaped the Sardinian author’s life and work. Among them: women’s emancipation and civil rights, motherhood and new family models, identity and tradition, social and political criticism, anti-fascism, and civic engagement.
