Warsaw – Galleria Vittoria in Rome will inaugurate the exhibition “The Work or the Painting” on Wednesday, October 22 at 6 p.m. The project is curated by Artur Winiarski, professor and director of the Painting Studio at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The exhibition will run until November 2 and is organized under the patronage of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Polish Institute in Rome, and the cultural association Visioni e Illusioni.
The exhibition features twelve artists – Katarzyna Dyjewska, Anna Jankowicz, Łukasz Jankowicz, Marcin Jurkiewicz, Przemysław Klimek, Marcin Kozłowski, Marcin Kozłowski Jr, Grzegorz Mroczkowski, Alina Picazio, Sylwester Piędziejewski, Piotr Wachowski, and Artur Winiarski – including faculty, researchers, and graduates of the Academy.
Through a visual and theoretical dialogue across generations, “The Work or the Painting” reflects on the very nature of pictorial art, examining the relationship between the creative process and the finished work, and questioning where the essence of painting truly lies.
The exhibition emerges from years of academic and artistic collaboration between Galleria Vittoria and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, emphasizing the importance of cultural cooperation between Italy and Poland. It is both an exhibition and a laboratory of reflection on contemporary painting, exploring style, technique, and poetic expression while fostering a dialogue across generations and artistic sensibilities.
During the exhibition, the artists’ works will also be featured in the 124th edition of Cento Pittori Via Margutta, scheduled from October 30 to November 2.
