Tokyo – Italian classical music will take center stage in Tokyo with the Umbrian Philharmonic Orchestra “V. Calamani,” performing “Journey through the Oscars” on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Italian Vibes. Sound of Youth in Tokyo festival. The event is organized by the Associazione ItaliaFestival, supported by the MiC and SIAE through the Per chi crea program, and in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
The concert is the third of four major events hosted by the Institute between August and November to showcase Italy’s emerging musicians under 35, giving them international exposure on a prestigious stage. “Journey through the Oscars” celebrates artistic dialogue between Italy and Japan through some of the most iconic Italian compositions for international cinema.
The program spans centuries and genres: from the Baroque elegance of Leonardo Leo’s Cello Concerto in D minor, to the romantic melodies of Luis Bacalov’s Il Postino, evocative selections by Nino Rota for Amarcord, Il Gattopardo, and La Dolce Vita, and the unforgettable intensity of Ennio Morricone with pieces like Gabriel’s Oboe from The Mission and The Legend of 1900.
The event highlights the international vocation of the Umbrian Philharmonic Orchestra “V. Calamani,” a musical ambassador bridging cultures, languages, and generations under the banner of Italian Vibes.
