Perugia – The President of the Umbria Region, Stefania Proietti, welcomed the Swiss Ambassador to Italy, Roberto Balzaretti, at Palazzo Donini yesterday. Also attending the meeting was Luca Ferrucci, sole administrator of Sviluppumbria.
President Proietti and Ambassador Balzaretti highlighted the shared goal of deepening bilateral relations between Umbria and the Swiss Confederation, particularly in areas such as trade exchange, investment attraction, and cultural, scientific, and academic cooperation.
Both parties expressed their intention to create new opportunities for dialogue on key strategic topics — including innovation and environmental sustainability — to lay the foundation for a lasting and fruitful partnership.
The Umbrian visit marked the first stop on the Ambassador’s new initiative, “In cammino con la Svizzera” (“On the Road with Switzerland”), a nationwide journey aimed at strengthening direct dialogue with each Italian region. As part of this symbolic project, Ambassador Balzaretti announced that he will donate a 3D-printed indoor bench made from recycled ecological materials — produced by a Bern-based company — to every region he visits, representing an invitation to exchange, dialogue, and connection.
