New York – “Little Rat,” the new single by Tuscan-born singer-songwriter and producer Birthh, will be released on Friday, November 14 under Carosello Records. Now based in New York City, the artist opens a fresh chapter in her career by singing in Italian for the first time, after three English-language albums that garnered critical acclaim.
To write the song, Birthh mentally returned to the rolling Tuscan hills of her youth — while staying grounded in the vibrant chaos of New York, the city that has become her home and inspiration. “Little Rat” captures this duality: the honest portrait of an artist unafraid to bare herself, finding her way back home through language while still looking at Italy from afar.
After being stranded in New York during the March 2020 lockdown, Alice Bisi — known professionally as Birthh — decided to settle permanently in Brooklyn and start anew. There, she found the freedom to embrace her queer identity fully, something she had struggled to do in Italy. Yet, despite that liberation, New York’s intensity often feels overwhelming, leaving her feeling “small and lost — like a little rat in the crowd.”
Blending introspective songwriting with urban and alternative sounds, “Little Rat” channels the restless pulse of the city through Birthh’s delicate, ethereal voice. The track was co-produced with Pietro Miano (2nd Roof / Chef P), a leading name in Italy’s rap and hip-hop scene, marking a striking new phase in Birthh’s musical journey.
