Innsbruck — The Dante Alighieri Italian Institute opened the ninth edition of the Italian Film Festival at the Metropolkino with a screening of Il primo giorno della mia vita. A full theatre and an engaged audience confirmed the event’s growing popularity, offering an evening rich in emotion and reflection.
The festival was introduced by President Pietro Salituri, followed by teacher and collaborator Peppino Brienza, both highlighting the importance of an event that has become a cultural tradition for Tyrol. They expressed gratitude for the support of the institutions that make the festival possible each year: the Italian Embassy in Vienna, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Honorary Consulate in Innsbruck, the Municipality of Innsbruck, Euregio and the Dante Alighieri Society.
Vice-president Maria Grazia Dettori closed the opening remarks by underlining the value of cinema as a space for encounter and dialogue - between film lovers, students and native speakers -reinforcing the festival’s role as a cultural bridge.
The following screenings confirmed the festival’s success: Dieci minuti by Maria Sole Tognazzi was warmly received, while I migliori giorni by Massimiliano Bruno and Edoardo Leo sold out once again. Schools also responded enthusiastically: the morning showing of Luca Lucini’s L’amore in teoria attracted around 650 students.
