Italian pasta in Madagascar

Dec. 30 - Italian pasta to the conquest of Madagascar thanks to SACE, which has secured supply in Madagascar for an automatic production line of long pasta, made by the company Fava SpA Cento, near Ferrara. Active since 1937, Fava S.p.A. is considered a reference brand in the design and construction of pasta-producing facilities, and represents a symbol company of Italian high -tech and innovative production. With a production value of nearly €100 million and an export turnover of 75%, Fava S.p.A. has long invested in international markets as part of its own growth strategy thanks to its decade-long partnership with SACE. Madagascar is a still largely unexplored country by Italian exporters, but it holds interesting possibilities for the development of pioneer companies. In fact, Fava was able to sign a supply contract with Habibo Et Cie Group, the leading food operator in Madagascar, which provides a deferred payment in four years covered by Sace. The ATI - African Trade Insurance Agency also plays a part in the agreement, thanks to a reinsurance agreement with Sace to increase its risk capacity in support of Italian companies exporting and investing in sub-Saharan Africa. The transaction confirms Sace’s commitment in developing markets with high growth potential: as confirmed by the continuous development of outstanding commitments in sub-Saharan Africa, Sace is exposed by approximately €830 million (+45 % compared to 2012). Companies active in sub-Saharan Africa can count on Sace’s support on site, with contact points in Johannesburg and Nairobi.

FAVA: A PROFILE

Founded in 1937, Fava SpA is a sector-leader in planning and construction of pasta equipment. It has successfully operated in the sector for three generations. The research and inventiveness that led in 1970 to the design of high temperature technologies are still key strategic elements to improve the company, to satisfy customers’ need and an evolving market.
